Guild URL: furc://drayganshollow:villageroleplay
Guild dream location: South west down the Imaginarium path at (44,73), located near the Blackstone Continuity.
Joining: Joining is not required to roleplay. Draygans Hollow is what we like to call an open-house dream, that means you can come in and roleplay whether you're a member or not, provided you abide by our rules. If you intend to apply for a job, you must join before you can apply.
Location and environment: Draygans Hollow is a remote village at the base of the mountains, it is in a valley. The temperature is usually cool to warm year round (the temperature rarely surpasses eighty degrees farenheight). There are not any densely populated areas within at least twenty miles on any side. Though there may be smaller settlements breaking up the space in between. It rains often (usually once or twice a week). And snows heavily in the winter. Draygans Hollow has all seasons, but has a very mild summer.
The plant life is almost rainforest like, mossy and fast-growing, but they still have a distinct 'mountainous' overtone. There are large trees similar to redwoods a mile or two outside of the outskirts. The hollow has a semi-thick dome of tree branches covering most of the space above it. The few paths that lead into the village are broken up and untrimmed. The buildings and paths are arranged haphazardly. Floods in spring - fall are a wellknown danger. There are deer, bear, cougar, wolves and other likewise animals.
Setting: Draygans Hollow is a nexus. It is chielfy medieval fantasy, but it has elements from other time periods (such as modern). The hollow is accessible by rifts (these rifts would be generally unnoticed by characters walking into the hollow, they aren't fancy or sparkly, they're just there.
Summary: For Furcadia folk, it's just like taking a walk in the woods and ending up in the village no one seemed to realized was there. For characters coming directly from Earth and other-dimensional areas, it is falling from one dimension to another. Like a New Yorker being flung back in time.
Did that explaination fly over your head? Well, that's okay. Generally, any explaination for a character being there is accepted in Draygans Hollow. We're just trying to stress the point that the Hollow has modern and sci fi elements in addition to fantasy elements, and that they are semi-common. If you see a character carrying a shotgun and popping skittles, it's acceptable.
Style of Play: Freestyle(post lengths don't make much difference, you aren't required to prep spell casts or attacks, etc)
Character types: Generally all races are allowed and accepted. Be it humans, demons, anthromorphics or cross-dimensional jedi-dinosaurs. Consult the rules page for guidelines on characters.
Known History: As far as history goes, there is nothing special about Draygans Hollow. Aside from it's postion as a nexus. The nature of it's rifts are generally unknown, and even unrealized. They are that subtle. It's home-plain is called 'Amnora' but this rarely applies IC.
Thirty or so years prior, Draygans Hollow was a strictly human village. Draygans Hollow burned down, and then was rebuilt a decade or so later by an inhuman population, after the original residents suddenly left. The year the original village burned is traditionally referred to as 'the burning year', and is common knowledge to long-time residents of the hollow.
However, the year that the fire happened is unrecorded. It is only clear that the original Hollow burned down, there is no record of why, and there is no otherwise record of 'the burning year'.
None of the residents that lived in the village prior to it's re-establishment still live there. All residents of the hollow and their ancestors (with the exception of a handful) have moved in within the last twenty years.
